Feature: Patek Philippe reveals colourful new Calatravas and a slick new Grand Complications model

Patek Philippe has launched some spectacular new models at Watches and Wonders. And we wouldn't have expected anything less from the hallowed brand. We picked out a couple of the pieces that piqued our interest...

Three colourful Calatravas

Patek Philippe has unveiled a trio of new Calatrava models at this year’s event, all featuring a playful hint of colour with red, yellow and blue accents.

Boasting a new “modern, graphic style”, each new 6007G model comes with an entirely polished 40mm white gold case. The standout point of each model though, is their concentric dials, all of which are ebony black and enhanced by an embossed “carbon” pattern in the centre.

Each of the three watches also features red (6007G-010), yellow (6007G-001) or blue (6007G-011) markers and seconds hand, as well as matching stitching on the black calfskin straps, which also come with that intricate embossed “carbon” pattern.

Powering this trio of models is Patek Philippe’s newer-generation movement the caliber 26-330 S C, a self-winding mechanical movement with a date at 3 o’clock and a stop seconds function. This has been used in previous Calatravas such as the 5226G-001.

Whatever colour you go for from this new Calatrava collection, you’d be getting a fun modern timepiece from one of the most prestigious watch brands in the world.

This Grand Complications 5316/50P is a masterpiece

Patek’s latest addition to its Grand Complications line features five of the most sought-after and technically accomplished watch complications, while flaunting a contemporary new look.

Those five said complications are: a minute-repeater (with two classic gongs), a tourbillon, perpetual calendar, retrograde date display and a moonphase display. All of which are powered by the mechanical manually wound movement, caliber R TO 27 PS QR.

Aesthetically, this model exudes luxury-cool thanks to its platinum case and sleek blue metallized sapphire crystal dial with a black-gradient rim and gold applied faceted “obus” hour markers. All of this is further enhanced by the navy-blue embossed calfskin strap with a fabric pattern, contrasting cream-coloured stitching and a platinum fold-over clasp.

Is this Patek’s most impressive release so far this year? We think it’s a contender…
